CHANGE, NATURE & SPIRITUALITY
CHANGE, NATURE & SPIRITUALITY
Dear Friends,
Nature Changes for the Better:
In the nature around us, we see things changing all the time: seasons change; weather changes; plants change in size; leaves change color; flowers change from budding to blooming to withering to seeding; snows melt; water flows in the streams/rivers refreshed constantly; body cells renew … thus changes are taking place everywhere in everything: this is life, the symptoms of being alive, active, dynamic, refreshing & change.
Unchanging Nature:
However, amidst all these
constant changing nature, we find some constant principles in nature that do
not change like: Fire/Sun remains as it is radiating heat, sunshine &
energy since billions of years; Air remains as it is giving us life breath
& more; Water is available as it is all around supplying us life fluid
& more; Earth remains as it is supplying us abundance of food, minerals,
oil & other natural resources; Space remains as it is inside & outside
of our body & all around. These five vital elements of existence i.e. Fire,
Air, Water, Earth & Space need not change their nature and it is the duty
of the humans to retain/preserve these vital, life giving/supporting systems of
nature without pollution and unwanted changes.
Humanity Changes:
Looking back to the past history
of mankind, we find that humanity had been changing constantly improving its
standard of living from the unprotected cave dwelling, hunting & gathering
lifestyle of the stone-age to the settled agriculture lifestyle with huts made
of trees, bamboos & mud to the cement & metal age of better housing
systems with primitive industries & trading systems to the present advanced
age of modern industries of computers, electronics, automobiles, trains, ships,
airplanes, rockets, satellites, electrical, chemical & metallic gadgets and
modern intelligent buildings of cutting edge technologies. Yes, humanity is
advancing/changing for the better materially indeed and we all should welcome
these changes for the better for humankind to live a better & happier life.
Humanity & Spirituality:
Humanity changed for the better
with material progress but its spirituality instead of enhancing at par,
unfortunately it degraded and that created more problems in the world with
material advancements. Spirituality should be retained just like the unchanging
five vital elements of nature else humanity cannot live in peace, harmony &
happiness for long. The spirituality here I am talking about are the simple
good human qualities that all humanity cherish having/practicing them like
Love, Purity, Cleanliness, Duty, Sincerity, Empathy, Non-injury, Equity, Unity,
Philanthropy, Justice, Happiness etc. When, these spiritual qualities of
humanity are degraded or lost, there prevails prejudice, hatred, enmity,
fighting, war, killings, destructions & unhappiness among the people all
around. In fact with the advancement of material progress, humanity need to
progress equally in spirituality meaning that people should become more
spiritual and practice it more in our day to day life while dealing with our
fellow people, animals, plants, minerals, environment, ecosystem & the
nature at large.
Learn from Nature:
Nature teaches us two clear
lessons about things to change and about things not to change. Seasons change
but the qualities of seasons remain the same. Plants changes in shape &
size but the qualities of plants remain the same. Fruits come & go but the
sweetness of the fruits remains the same. Our body changes but our soul remains
the same. Nature shows us that the universe runs on two fundamental principles
of changing & changeless truths. Those changing truths are material truths
and those changeless truths are spiritual truths. Nature retains its
equilibrium, harmony and perfectness by balancing these two principles of
changing & changeless truths. This is the best lesson humanity should learn
from nature for our balanced progress that while we progress [change]
materially we should remain [changeless] in our spirituality.
Happiness for all!
