LET US CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!
LET US CHANGE FOR THE BETTER!
Dear Friends,
First of all, I want to
honestly declare that this article is written with all good intentions &
goodwill to all, while revealing some bitter truths of the prevailing world
traditions that call for better changes; for the sake of humanity’s better
progress & happiness.
Truths are like bitter pills
that cure diseases and thus, this article may taste bitter to many but it may
well cure their mental diseases if they digest it in good spirit.
Here, let’s look into some of
the world’s fashions/habits/belief-systems/traditions still followed but under
deeper analysis, these blind followings are better be stopped by now for the
betterment of humankind:
1. Neck-tie
What is the purpose of this
noose around the neck that may well throttle you to death in many emergency
situations? Does this small piece of cloth hanging around the neck serve any
purpose at all? Because clothing designs of any kind should serve some good
purpose to the wearer: either it comforts/protects /warms/covers or all of
these. So, any design/fashion of clothing should be directed to these
purposeful ways of use else what good for fashion/designs new or old! But,
unfortunately many people are still donning this useless piece of clothing
called tie/neck-tie hanging around blindly following all others who did it the
same way without thinking!
2. Smoking
What is the real purpose of
smoking? Does this practice give any benefits to the body /mind /spirit
/environment? As of research results this bad habit only harms us in all the
above aspects i.e. harms the body with smelly mouth, lung cancer, poisoning of
saliva/blood & shortening of life-span; pollutes mind with vain
imaginations, can’t do any deep concentration or meditation; harms the spirit
blocking its uplifting inspirations; pollutes the environment with unwanted
smokes, bad smells & cigarette butts! Smokers thus not only harm
themselves, they harm the surroundings both environment [pollution] & people
[passive smoking]. Then, why the heck is this bad habit continued by so many
people yet is nothing but the blind following without conscious thoughts about
its harmful effects.
3. Meat-eating
Yes, in the primitive stages
of human evolution as hunters & gatherers when humans didn’t have the
knowledge of agriculture & settled lifestyle; it was the tradition of the
past human society to kill animals & eat the flesh as food but by now when
humans have all the advanced knowledge of agriculture, horticulture & food
processing and able to produce more food grains, pulses, lentils, fruits,
vegetables, herbs and plenty of processed food items of vegetarian origin etc
and also that all these vegetarian foods are in fact healthier for human beings and still now, why people continue
eating meat/flesh is really questionable. This is again nothing but the blind
following of the past social habits. After conscious analysis, all thoughtful
people, should have turned to vegetarianism by now for the better health & for
the better global environment. Meat-eating involves killing and the karma of
killing causes violence & war in the world. So, if you want peace &
happiness in the world you should stop eating flesh-food.
4. Idolatry
This is practiced as
religious rituals mostly among Hindus and by the primitive tribes. They make
all kinds of gods & goddesses of their own imaginations and worship them as
God! Are these gods & goddesses truly powerful as their worshippers believe
them so is a question already answered negatively by the history of the world that
these idols could not even protect themselves what to speak of protecting their
worshippers when the Muslim invaders came & destroyed many idols in the
Hindu temples and looted them in India just a few centuries ago. If those idols
[gods & goddesses] were truly powerful, then, they should have protected
themselves & their devotees and destroyed the invaders by showing godly
miracles but nothing of these sorts happened; instead those Muslim invaders
after destroying the Hindu idols & temples, ruled those idol worshippers
making them their slaves! But, these Hindu idolaters, instead of learning
lessons from the history, they still are blindly following idolatry &
temple worship that didn’t do much good for them in the past! Idolatry is
nothing but a practice of slavery to the idols and at the best a selfish way of
worshipping God that is against the true/selfless worship of the supreme God
with unconditional love & surrender.
4. Prayers
Prayer to God is of course a
fundamental practice of all believers in all the religions but too much of it
is rather waste of time or simply disturbing to others. If you know that God is
all powerful, all knower, all present; God knows already what you are going to
pray or praying for, but as a ritual for the peace of mind, believers can do
that may be once in the early morning at the start of the day but the five time
prayer ritual practiced by Muslim believers is simply a waste of time & disturbance
to work and also the use of loud speakers at the mosques for the prayers mostly
in the early hours is a big disturbance to others. So, if you want to pray,
pray in silence without disturbing others. Also, the Hari-sankirtana [playing
drums & cymbals with loud chanting of prayers] in the name of religious
practices by the Hare Krishna cult on the city streets around the world is a
big nuisance to the public.
5. Parasitic Religious
Lifestyle
There are many uncotributing
but consuming people in the society in the name of religious practice who are
in fact social parasites viz the vagabond Hindu sanyasis, Buddhist monks and
many other cult members. If you understand the meaning of religion properly
i.e. religion means duty and so if you truly want to be a religious person, your
most important religious practice should start with the discharge of your
duties at the first place as a father, mother, son, daughter, teacher,
scientist, engineer, doctor, dentist, nurse, farmer, miner, industrialist, manufacturer,
trader, transporter, worker, sales-person, politician, leader, director,
manager, secretary, executive, officer, clerk, peon, helper etc, yes, all
people should contribute to the society positively by the discharge of their
duties sincerely [the best way they can] that is true religion. There is no
religion higher than the best performance of your duty. Chanting mantras whole
day won’t help much but a little of your good works will. Rotating many wheels
and murmuring prayers whole day is a sheer waste of time, instead do something
productive. By now, world religions are so contaminated with misinterpretations
& misguidance that religious centers are a place for lazy people, orphans
& homeless wanderers just to get food, clothing & shelter without work
in case of Hindu & Buddhist temples and a place for training religious
fanatics as jihadists in case of Muslim mosques and a center for one-sided,
sinner & fear based, misguiding
teaching of personal sins absolved by Christ instead of personal responsibility
& refinement of one’s own actions, in case of Christian churches. It’s a
waste of human resources that people waste time & talents doing less or no
productive work at such so called religious centers, instead all people should
work in their capacities thus contribute to the society & live in freedom
happily instead of living like beggars or slaves.
Happiness for all!

Goodman
